The game of Poker is played between two or more players and consists of betting rounds and an exchange of cards. A good poker strategy is to try and reduce the number of players you play against. If you have solid pre-flop cards like AQ, for instance, bet enough to get other players out of the hand. This will mean less chance that somebody who doesn’t belong in the hand will hit a lucky flop and win the pot.<\/p>\n
The game also involves reading and reacting to the tells of other players – unconscious habits that reveal information about their hand. This may be a simple change in eye contact, facial expression or body language. The best players know how to read these cues and use them both to exploit their opponents and protect themselves from being bluffed. Many professional poker players even have behavioral dossiers on their opponents and buy records of other players’ “hand histories”.
